Accessing Your Verizon Account
To begin the activation process, go to verizon.com in a browser and enter your PIN to access your account. Then:
- Choose “Manage all devices”
- Click “Activate your own device” to add a new phone to an existing line
- Finally, select “Activate”
Part 1: Prepare for Activation
Step 1: Verify the Account Holder’s PIN
You’ll need the four-digit PIN associated with the Verizon account. If you’re not the account holder, ask them for the code.
Alternatively, you may need the last four digits of the account holder’s Social Security number.
Step 2: Make Sure Your Phone Has an Account
If you’re moving to a smartphone, ensure you have an associated cloud account:
- iPhone — Set up your iCloud account
- Android — Set up your device with a Gmail account
Step 3: Backup Your Old Phone
To preserve your contacts and other data:
- iPhone — Use iTunes or iCloud to back up
- Android — Use device settings to back up
Step 4: Turn Off iMessage (if needed)
Before switching from iPhone to Android:
- Go to Settings

- Turn off iMessage

Hold the Power button and select Power Off when prompted.

Take out the SIM from your old phone if you want to keep the same number.
