Step 1: Launch the Google Play Store
Launch the Google Play app for Android from the Google Play Store. It’s the app with the vibrant “Play” triangle icon.
Step 2: Search for NextRadio
In the search bar at the top, type NextRadio. A list of apps that match your input will appear beneath the search bar.
Step 3: Select NextRadio Free Live FM Radio
Press the NextRadio Free Live FM Radio button. It’s the app with the blue radio-like icon. This opens the NextRadio information page.
Step 4: Install the App
Press Install. It’s the green button at the top of the information page, beneath the banner. The app will now be installed.
Step 5: Launch NextRadio
Launch NextRadio by tapping “Open” in the Google Play Store or by selecting the blue radio icon in the Apps drawer or on your home screen.
If your Android device can receive an FM signal, you’ll see the message “Lucky You!”, indicating that your device is FM enabled and can play live, local FM radio.
Step 6: Connect Wired Headphones and Swipe Left
Swipe left while wearing wired headphones. The headphone wire serves as the antenna. Swipe left on the screen to move to the next slide.
Note: Bluetooth and wireless headphones cannot act as radio antennas.
Step 7: Press “I’m Ready!”
Press “I’m Ready!” — the white button at the bottom of the screen. NextRadio will begin searching for available radio stations in your area.
If prompted, tap Allow to grant location access so NextRadio can find nearby stations.
Step 8: Choose a Listening Option
Select Local Streams or Local FM Radio. These options are located beneath the top banner and will show local radio stations.
Step 9: Tune In to a Station
Press a radio station button to start listening through your headphones. It may take a few seconds for the station to load.
If you’d prefer to use your phone’s speaker:
- Tap the three vertical dots (⋮) in the top-right corner.
- Choose Output to Speaker to redirect audio from your headphones to your device’s speaker.
