First Step Go to the website for American Express gift cards.
One
Go to the website for American Express gift cards. On your computer, launch a browser and navigate to https://balance.amexgiftcard.com/. You can view the page on a smartphone or tablet if you don’t have a computer close at hand.[1]
The website can be accessed via a number of American Express websites: http://AmexGiftCard.com/balance. The URL will take you to the same page even though this is an older version of the website mentioned above.
Step 2: Fill in the provided boxes with your card details.

  1. Fill in the designated boxes with your card details. Enter the 15-digit card number for your gift card in the corresponding boxes, making sure there are no spaces between the numbers. Enter the card’s 4-digit card-identification code (CID) and expiration date as well. The card’s front contains the CID.[2]
Although it is not required, you are welcome to enter your email address if you so choose. By providing your email address, American Express will be able to get in touch with you regarding your card and other promotions.
Step 3: To finish the card registration, click “Sign in.”
    3.
To finish the card registration process, click “Sign in.” Your card will be fully activated as a result. Depending on your browser and login location, you might occasionally need to click the “I’m not a robot” box in the Captcha field before selecting “Sign in” to complete the activation. The card will then be prepared for use.[3] An email verifying the activation of your gift card will be sent to you if you previously provided your email address.
Step 4: To activate your card over the phone, call the number on it.
To activate your card over the phone, dial the number that appears on it. A toll-free phone number that starts with 1-800 or 1-888 should be visible on the back of your card. To activate your card if you don’t have internet access, call this number. Navigate the automated menu, paying attention to the options regarding gift cards and activation. When prompted, enter the card’s 4-digit CID, 16-digit number, and expiration date.[4]
You can press “0” to talk to a human if the automated menus are too challenging to use.

First Step On the back of the gift card, sign your name.
One
On the back of the gift card, sign your name. Sign your name in the designated box using a pen with either blue or black ink. If your signature appears on the back of the card, store employees can use it to confirm your identity by comparing it to your signature on a credit card or driver’s license. In the unlikely event that you misplace the gift card, it will also assist you in finding it.[5]
To ensure the ink is dry, wait 20 to 30 minutes after signing the card before placing it in your wallet or pocket.
Step 2: In the event that the card is lost or stolen, write down the details.
2.
In the event that the card is lost or stolen, write down the details. Write down your card number, the 3-digit card security code (CSC) on the back of the card, and the 4-digit CID on the front of the card before you begin using it. Call the American Express customer service number listed on the back of your card if you believe your American Express gift card has been lost or stolen.[6] The number is 1-888-846-4308 if you reside in the United States.
Generally speaking, American Express will return the remaining balance on your gift card (less any money you have already spent) if your card is lost or stolen.
Step 3: Prior to making a purchase, check the balance on the card.
3.
Prior to making a purchase, check the balance on the card. Check online to see how much money is on your card if you don’t know (for example, if the person who gave it to you didn’t say how much it was worth). Go to https://balance.amexgiftcard.com/ to find the balance. After entering your card number and security code and clicking “Sign In,” the following page will display your entire card balance.[7]
You can also check the balance online at any time after you’ve begun using the card frequently. You can avoid inadvertently maxing out your card by being aware of its balance before you go shopping.

The SIM or eSIM is already configured and activated when you purchase a new phone from AT&T.
Bringing your phone to an AT&T store to have your SIM information located and entered is the simplest way to solve the problem.
Alternatively, you can call AT&T to activate the new SIM card using your IMEI and SIM card number.

Step 1: Find Your IMEI Number

Find your IMEI number and/or write it down.
This unique code is usually printed and prominently labeled on the phone’s packaging. If you don’t have the packaging, you can dial *#06# on your phone’s keypad to retrieve it.

If your phone does not have a SIM slot, you will need to purchase an eSIM.
To do this:

  • Visit: AT&T My Devices
  • Log in to your AT&T account.
  • Select “My devices” and click “Manage device” next to the relevant phone.
  • Under “Options & settings,” select “Get new eSIM.”

If the “Get new eSIM” button isn’t visible, your eSIM may already be activated.

Step 2: Find Your SIM Card Number

Find your SIM card number and write it down.
This is typically printed on the SIM card next to “ICCID” and is also referred to as the ICCID number.

If you don’t see “ICCID,” it may be labeled as “CSN” or “EID.”
If you’re having trouble locating it, visiting a local AT&T store can make this process easier.

Step 3: Turn Off Your Device

Switch off your tablet or phone.
If you’ve already inserted the new SIM card, you can skip this and the next step.

Step 4: Transfer a Phone Number from Another Provider (Optional)

This step is only for users who want to transfer their number from another provider like T-Mobile or Verizon.

  1. Go to: AT&T Order Status
  2. Enter your billing ZIP code and the phone number you wish to transfer.
  3. Click “Continue”
  4. Enter the required information and follow the on-screen instructions to activate the number.

Step 5: Insert the SIM Card

Insert the SIM card into your phone or tablet.
If you’re unsure how to do this:

  • Visit the AT&T Device Support site.
  • Choose your device model.
  • Click “All Solutions” > “Insert SIM Card” for specific instructions.

Step 6: Turn On Your Device and Make a Test Call

Power your phone back on and try making a test call.
You should also try using mobile data with Wi-Fi turned off.

  • If both features work, your SIM is active.
  • You can now start setting up your voicemail.

Step 7: Visit the AT&T Activation Website

Go to AT&T Activation to start the activation process.

Step 8: Enter Your SIM and IMEI Numbers

Input both the SIM card number and the IMEI number into the form.
Click “Continue” to proceed.

Once your information is verified, follow the device and service instructions displayed on the screen.

Step 9: Follow the On-Screen Instructions

Follow the final on-screen instructions to complete the activation process.
Once activated, you can make calls and access the internet.

Additional Help

If you’re having trouble activating your SIM card online:

  • Visit an AT&T store during business hours.
  • Call AT&T customer service for assistance.
    • In the U.S.: Call 1-800-331-0500

  • Go to Settings > General > About
  • Scroll down to locate the ICC ID number.
