Adding and activating a device on your Netflix account is a straightforward process. Whether you’re using a Smart TV, streaming device, or computer, here’s a complete guide to help you connect and manage your devices.
Part 1: Adding a New Device to Netflix
Step 1: Open the Netflix App
On your Smart TV or streaming device (like Roku, Apple TV, or Amazon Fire Stick), launch the Netflix app.
- Many devices come with Netflix pre-installed or have a dedicated Netflix button on the remote.
- If not installed, download Netflix from your device’s app store.
Step 2: Select “Sign in”
Choose Sign in from the main screen.
- If you’re already logged into another account, go to the left sidebar, scroll to the bottom, and select Get help → Sign out.
Step 3: Choose “Sign in from Web”
Instead of using the on-screen keyboard, select Sign in from Web.
- A screen will appear with a code and a web address.
- Some devices may show a QR code. Use your phone’s camera to scan the QR and follow the link.
Note: Some TVs allow direct login via remote control. If so, enter your email and password using the remote.
Step 4: Open Netflix Activation Page on Another Device
On a computer or mobile device, open a browser and go to the activation website shown on your TV screen.
Step 5: Enter the Code Displayed on Your TV
In your browser, enter the code from your TV and click Continue.
Step 6: Sign in to Your Netflix Account
Use your email or phone number and password to log in.
- If you’re already signed in, activation may begin automatically.
Step 7: Start Watching
Once confirmed, a success message will appear.
- Your device will now be ready to stream Netflix.

Part 4: Understanding Device Limits and Netflix Household
Step 1: Know Your Plan Limits
The number of devices you can stream on at once depends on your plan:
- Standard / Standard with ads: 2 devices.
- Premium: 4 devices.
- You can add extra members on Standard and Premium plans, each with 1 additional device.
Step 2: How Netflix Identifies Your Household
Netflix uses device IDs, IP addresses, and account activity to determine your Netflix Household.
